Hydration is key for healthy skin! 💧
You may have heard that drinking 8 glasses per day of water is going to cure all your ailments. While that’s probably not the case for most people, I will say that increasing your hydration (whether that’s by drinking more water or through other means, which I’ll dive into in a future post) can certainly be beneficial for your skin!
If you experience skin conditions like acne, eczema, psoriasis, or rosacea, increasing your hydration status can help improve the health of your skin.
💧 Optimal hydration improves your skin’s elasticity.
Water is needed to help “plump up” your skin, which minimizes pores and promotes a healthier skin barrier. This helps minimize the inflammatory effects of environmental irritants.
💧 Got puffy eyes? Your body tends to hold onto water when it’s dehydrated, so hydrating can help reduce puffiness.
💧 Adequate hydration is necessary for healthy kidney function, which is key for eliminating metabolic waste products and environmental toxins (we’ll cover this more in-depth in my next post!)
💧 Water helps keep your bowels moving. If you’re not poopin’ regularly, solid wastes back up, which leads to re-absorption of cellular waste products and extra hormones — all stuff you want to get OUT in order to keep your skin healthy!
💧 Proper hydration promotes healthy blood flow, which improves nutrient delivery to your skin. If your skin is not getting the nutrition it needs due to poor circulation and dried-out tissues, then getting hydrated may be the answer.
